When you sit down to think about your next family holiday, once you’ve decided what kind of holiday you are looking for, take a moment to think about if there is anyone else who would like to go on the holiday with you. Are there any extended family members who you would like to take a trip with or is there another family that your family is close with and love doing fun activities together? Going on your family holiday with other family members or even other families is something to consider and I share my top 3 reasons why that is.

Free Space

When you add your extended family or another family or 2 to your holiday, you’ll have a small group. One of the best advantages to having a small group is that you can get a space (or more) free! It does depend on the destination you head to and which supplier you use (you can cross off Disney straight away). Not a bad perk if you ask me!

Intimate Experiences

This may seem counter intuitive. I’m telling you to add more people to your holiday so that you get an intimate experience… but hear me out. With the small group you have created, you can take a guided tour type of holiday where the group is made up of entirely you and your extended family or the family you are travelling with. One supplier we like to work with only needs 8 guests for their own group. That’s just 2 families of 4! Talk about an intimate experience.

Now if you are not considering a guided tour, you can still gain some benefits. If you do any excursions or activities, you can be the only people on the tour! Our family cruise this past Christmas was made up of 13 family members and while we didn’t have the Queen Mary 2 all to ourselves, we were the only people on most of the excursions we did at each port.

The More The Merrier

I’ve had first hand experience with this and we constantly get great feedback from families who have travelled with other families or extended family that they have so much fun. You have more people to connect with, more people to share fun and exciting experiences with and there are more conversations to be had. While I still firmly believe that you can have just as much fun on your own family holiday, why not take the opportunity to travel with your extended family and get to know your nieces and nephews even more!
