Valentine’s Day is only a handful of days away. Lots of people do date night on Valentine’s. Family Day is the day after if you live in Ontario, which is a good time to have family date night! Getting ready for date night is fun if you’re interested in the beauty world. It gives you a reason to get all dolled up, maybe try a new look. Some people like to have a soft and flirty look, or maybe a bit more of an edgy and dramatic look.

My boyfriend and I aren’t into Valentine’s Day, but both my birthday and anniversary are within the next month so I’ve been thinking about date night looks lately. I’ve put together a look to give you some inspiration for your date night, whether it’s for Valentine’s Day or just because! I’ve included tips to make it smokier, or more dramatic if you prefer that look.

After applying your face makeup, use an eyeshadow primer to keep your makeup lasting the whole evening. Blend a soft brown shadow into the crease of your eye and blend the edges well. This will give some depth and warmth to your eyes. Pack a pale pink shadow on to your eyelids (use a brighter or darker pink for more colour), and blend it into the brown shadow. Sweep a pale shade under your eyebrow to highlight. Use a small detail brush to place a champagne shadow on the inner corner of the eye to brighten. Smudge the same pink shadow you used on your lid along your lower lash line to keep the look soft, or a light grey (darker grey if you’re going edgier) to add a bit of definition. Use your favourite pencil eyeliner to line your inner rim of your eye in white to make your eyes look big and bright, or black to look dark and sultry. You can keep it like that, or add some grey shadow to the outer corner of your eyelid and blend it into your crease to make it even smokier!

You can add false lashes, or not, and then add a few coats of mascara to your upper and lower lashes.

Add a hint of a natural pink blush to give your face a healthy glow. Define your brows with a brow pencil or powder. Line your lips with a nude or soft pink liner, and fill them in with the liner to make it last longer. Go over the liner with a coordinating lipstick, and gloss.

This is a look you can keep soft and flirty, or add more grey and black to take it to smoky bombshell!

I hope this look is a good starting point and it inspires you to take it and make it your own if you’re stumped for your own date night makeup.

Happy Valentine’s and have a great Family Day!
