Life is full of milestones whether you are celebrating your eldest graduating from University, your 25th wedding anniversary or your 60th birthday. We have so much to celebrate and travel can help make any celebration an extra special occasion.

Travelling to celebrate a milestone can make the milestone so much more memorable. Sure, you could throw a 50th birthday party and it will be a lot of fun, but how memorable would that be? You may remember that your favourite brother-in-law wowed the party guests with his karaoke skills… or was that during the Canada Day celebrations? When you take a trip to celebrate a milestone, you will remember exactly that you had seen your first lion in the wild that very same morning you turned 50. That would be pretty memorable.

Celebrating a milestone can become a very special moment when you celebrate by travelling. It is the perfect opportunity to take the safari you have been dreaming about for who knows how many years or your first river cruise that you have been itching to try. Marking a milestone by taking a special trip will be an experience that will bring you closer to your loved ones or even closer to who you truly are!

When you travel to celebrate, you will be able to either travel with family and friends such as celebrating a 50th wedding anniversary with all the children and the grandchildren, or you can celebrate with just your significant other and leave the children behind for your 15th wedding anniversary. You could even celebrate 20 years since you graduated if you are still really close with friends from your graduating class!

With endless possibilities of making a milestone truly spectacular, I have some tips for you:

Plan in Advance

You know exactly when your milestone is coming up, so give yourself plenty of time to plan your trip. You may have only just turned 38 but it won’t hurt to start thinking about what you could do for your 40th now. Maybe a few of your friends will all be turning 40 in the same year and you can plan a big trip together. That would take some extra planning and you want the trip to be celebratory, not stressful.

Research a Budget

By planning in advance, you can do a little research before hand to see what is out there and the ballpark figures for everything. That way you can create a budget for what you want to do and plan accordingly.

Use a Professional

Once you have done some initial research, you will want to hand your planning over to a travel expert so that they can take care of all the details for you. Not only will they take care of the details, they will be able to suggest travel experiences that you may not have known even existed! You can let them know that you have always wanted to go to the South Pacific but did you know that there is a way to see the South Pacific where it feels like you are on your own private luxury yacht, without the price tag or needing a celebrity for a friend?
