Join the Town and Second Harvest for a webinar to learn about misconceptions around food date labels and how to maximize your food through proper storage. Second Harvest is a charitable organization committed to rescuing surplus food before it ends up in landfill. Register now.

2 Attend The Library’s Waste-Themed Family Storytime and Craft

Saturday, October 22, 2022
Storytime: 10:30 a.m. to 11 a.m., First Floor Fireplace Area
Craft time: 11 a.m. to 11:30 a.m., Children’s Program Room
Whitby Public Library, Central Location (405 Dundas Street West)

It’s never too early to learn how to reduce, reuse and recycle! Bring your little ones out to the Whitby Public Library to listen to child-friendly waste reduction stories that will inspire the whole family. Then, put those new skills to the test by doing a reuse craft to repurpose materials so they avoid the landfill.

3 Visit The Repair Café

Saturday, October 22, 2022, 10 a.m. until 2 p.m.
Whitby Public Library, Central Location (405 Dundas Street West)

Bring your broken or damaged items to the pop-up Repair Café and learn how to fix them for free! Eligible items include electronics such as cameras, tablets, phones, laptops, bicycles, toys, clothes, jewelry, sewing machines, and small household appliances. Registration coming soon!

4 Schedule a Community Cleanup

The Town’s Anti-Litter App allows you to easily find an available location and register for a cleanup kit. When you schedule a cleanup, a free cleanup kit is provided, and staff will collect waste following the event. View Whitby’s parks, trails and roads that are available for adoption or schedule a one-time community cleanup at whitby.ca/CleanUp

5 Play Our Waste Sorting Game

Think you know where all your household waste items go? Gather the family    and play our game to challenge yourself. See how many levels you can complete in 5 minutes.
