This year, Clarington has several ceremonial events planned to mark Remembrance Day, beginning on November 5th in Newtonville, and culminating on November 11th at various locations. In Bomanville, together with local Royal Canadian Legion Branch 178, Remembrance Day will happen in person at the cenotaph at Town Hall (40 Temperance Street, Bowmanville).

It’s a time to remember the sacrifices and achievements of the local men and women who served in Canada’s military in times of war, military conflict and peace and those who have died since returning home from Active Service. This year, the Municipality will not be live streaming the ceremony. If you are unable to come in person, you are encouragde to attend another Remembrance Service in Clarington, tune into local TV channels, or watch the Government of Ontario’s Remembrance Day Ceremony.

There are many ways to show your support for the Royal Canadian Legion, our veterans, and their families this Remembrance Day. Visit www.poppystore.ca to see how you can contribute or learn more about the stories behind Clarington’s war heroes on their website.
