Remembrance is blooming in downtown Uxbridge this month as the Poppy Project returns. The project features displays of knitted and crocheted poppies spread throughout the downtown area to honour veterans and encourage remembrance.

In its inaugural year in 2021, the Uxbridge Poppy Project consisted of 11 displays throughout the downtown, but this year will feature 21 throughout the urban area. Throughout November, displays will be featured at various locations, including the Uxbridge Fire Hall, Blue Heron Books, Preston Gallery, D.G. Smith Insurance, Woods Clothing, Uxbridge Shoes, Roxy Theatres, CIBC, M.T. Hangers, Holistic Salt Cave, Lemonade Stand, Medgear, Meat Merchant, Uxbridge Secondary School, Douglas Crossing, Reachview, St. Andrew’s-Chalmers Presbyterian Church, Uxbridge Family Dentistry, Navarra’s Eatery and the Cenotaph.

Items for sale included poppy wreaths, poppies on a stick that can be used as decor, as well as watercolour prints. To date, the fundraiser has collected just under $1,000 for the Legion. For more information, visit The Uxbridge Poppy Project on Facebook.
