Oshawa is set to get two natural outdoor ice rinks this winter. For the 2023 season, the city plans one outdoor rink at Delpark Homes Centre, 1661 Harmony Rd. N. and one at Stone Street Park, 1535 Cedar St.

The City of Oshawa piloted natural, outdoor ice rinks for the first time in 2022, with two 50-by-100-foot rinks constructed on the sports field adjacent to the Delpark Homes Centre. Lights were added to allow for evening skating until 10 p.m.

The total cost for the pilot project was $32,462. In 2022, the outdoor ice rink season lasted 41 days, from Jan. 14 to Feb. 23. During that period, the rinks were open for 24 days and closed for 17 days due to weather, snow removal or unsafe ice conditions. Council voted in May 2022 to continue to offer outdoor rinks in 2023 and explore additional locations.

Be sure to check the website above for updates before heading out, as openings are all weather dependent.
