Whitby youth ages 12 to 18 are encouraged to join the Town to celebrate Youth Week during the first week of May. Stay connected with your friends and have fun with a series of activities.

Youth can enjoy a free skate or swim, shoot some hoops at drop-in basketball, visit Art Attack at Station Gallery, and more!

Activities include:

1)Visit the Youth Room Open House

Monday, May 1 from 4 to 8 p.m.

Youth ages 12 to 18 are invited to drop into the youth room at the Brooklin Community Centre and Library (8 Vipond Road) or McKinney Centre (222 McKinney Drive) to enjoy pizza, snacks, games, and tournaments. There are prizes!

2)Shoot Hoops at Free Drop-In Basketball

Tuesday, May 2 and Thursday, May 4 from 3:30 to 4:55 p.m.

Youth ages 14 to 18 are welcome to drop by Brooklin Community Centre and Library (8 Vipond Road) to shoot some hoops with friends, or make some new ones on the court.

3)Visit the Teen Caf

Wednesday, May 3 from 3:30 to 5 p.m.

Drop into Whitby Public Library-Central Branch (405 Dundas Street West) for the Teen Cafe, a safe space where youth in grades 7 to 12 can hang out and play games. Registration is not required. Questions? Email teenservices@whitbylibrary.ca.

4) Get Inspired at Art Attack

Thursday, May 4 at 7 p.m.

Visit Station Gallery (1450 Henry Street) to attend the free Art Attack opening night. Walk the gallery and see featured youth artists recognized for their art submissions.

5)Build Strength at Free Functional Fitness Fun for Youth

Friday, May 5 from 4 to 5 p.m.

Youth ages 12 to 18 are welcome to join us at the Whitby Civic Recreation Complex (555 Rossland Road East) for Functional Fitness Fun. Push, pull, run, throw, lift, climb, and jump to develop body strength while establishing core strength, flexibility, mobility, coordination, and stability.Register through ActiveNet.

6)Youth Week Free Movie Night

Friday, May 5 at 7 p.m.

Youth ages 13 to 18 (or in grade 7) are invited to join us in the gymnasium at the Brooklin Community Centre and Library (8 Vipond Road) to watch Top Gun Maverick on a huge inflatable screen. Each participant will receive a movie snack bag. Registrationis required.

7)Attend a Free Public Skate

Saturday, May 6 from 2 to 3:45 p.m.

Get ready to lace up your skates. Youth ages 12 to 18 are invited to attend a public skate at Iroquois Park Sports Centre (500 Victoria Street West). Youth are FREE to skate! Dont forget your ID, you will need it to verify your age.

8)Attend a Free Public Swim

Sunday, May 7 from 2:30 to 4:30 p.m.

Youth ages 12 to 18 are invited to attend a public swim at Iroquois Park Sports Centre (500 Victoria Street West). Youth are FREE to swim! Dont forget your ID, you will need it to verify your age.
