Whitby is bringing fun and interactive Family Day experiences to you and your family. On Monday, February 21, make new memories with your loved ones with any or all of the following activities:

1. Enjoy an Indoor Skate

Lace up your skates, gather the family and enjoy a public skate at Iroquois Park Sports Centre on Monday, February 21 from 12 p.m. to 2 p.m. – first come, first serve. Please note there is an admission charge of $4.74 per adult, $3.17 per child (ages 4 to 14) or $12.76 for a family (two adults and three children). Masks must be worn and proof of vaccination using an enhanced vaccine certificate with QR code is required for anyone ages 12 and over. McKinney Centre and Luther Vipond Memorial Arena are also open. For more information, visit whitby.ca/Skate.

2. Family Day Neighbourhood Scavenger Hunt – available Thursday, February 17

Enjoy an outdoor scavenger hunt in your neighbourhood. The easiest way to participate is to open the scavenger hunt on your mobile device, follow a series of ten clues, then submit photos of the items (max 10MB) and answers right in the browser for a chance to win one of four prizes. You can also complete the scavenger hunt on a computer or tablet once you’re back home. The deadline to enter is Tuesday, February 22 at midnight.

3. Family Day Trivia Challenge – available Thursday, February 17

Make some popcorn, gather together in the living room and test your knowledge with Whitby’s Family Day Trivia at home. Watch together on a tablet or use your smart phone to screen mirror (broadcast) the trivia questions on your T.V. for a unique game-show experience. There are 60 family-friendly questions to answer. How many will you get right?

4. Take the Whitby Movie Challenge

What does your ideal family movie night look like? We would love to know about your favourite snacks and favourite family movie. Share your photos with @TownofWhitby on social media using #whitbyfamilyday.

5. Get Out and Explore Whitby

Get out and get active with your family! Experience the Town’s beautiful natural environment by walking or hiking some of our 60 km of local trails in your neighbourhood. You can listen to local artists using Sound Tracks while on the trails. Share your favourite walking trails on the Town’s Winter Walk map. You can also explore Whitby’s public art using the Arts Trail. Residents are advised Town trails are not maintained; use at your own risk.

6. Enjoy Dinner as a Family

Can’t decide what to make for dinner this Family Day? Support local by ordering take-out from one of Whitby’s many restaurants. Why not make it fancy and break out the tablecloth and fine china? Or plan a virtual Zoom dinner with a family member or friend – make it special by sending them a dinner invite and ordering a meal to their doorstep.

7. Discover Your Library as a Family

Embrace your inner bookworm and spend the day reading as a family. Whitby Public Library has created lists of cozy books to curl up with for adults and children. You can also visit the Whitby Library website for access to digital content and program information 24/7. A reminder that all Whitby Public Library locations will be closed on Monday, February 21. Book returns remain open.

8. Go For a Swim

Take a dip in the pool. Anne Ottenbrite Pool at the Iroquois Park Sports Centre is open for swimming this Family Day. For more information, visit whitby.ca/swim.
