The City of Pickering is offering a free new Learn to Skateboard program for Pickering Residents ages 7 – 12, with support from Jumpstart and a $10,000 grant to assist with strategies to encourage participation in sport and recreation programming. 

This Free Learn to Skateboard program will operate once a week on Saturdays starting Saturday, September 24 – Saturday, October 22 at Chestnut Hill Development Recreation Complex. There are two time slots available for participants to choose from; session 1 for ages 7 -9 runs 11:00am – 1:00pm and session 2 for ages 10 –12, 1:30pm – 3:30pm.

With the help of Jumpstart the City was able to purchase a variety of new equipment such as skateboards, helmets and safety pads to give to each participant to add to the success of this program. Each week participants will learn different skateboarding skills so they can build their confidence to participant in skateboard activities throughout the community.
