New Horizon’s for Seniors Golf & Physical Literacy Program in Pickering
The City of Pickering is launching “Learn to Play Golf”, made possible by the New Horizon’s for Seniors Grant. Offering an in-depth look at the fundamentals of golf, focusing on all aspects of the game. The program was created as a way to provide adults 55+ with an outlet to expand on their own physical literacy, learning more about the sport of golf, or to expand on existing skills. Playing golf helps you to stay active and creates opportunities for growth and confidence in daily activities.
Through this grant, the City is also able to offer physical literacy training for staff and participants. This training will provide the necessary information and resources to encourage participants to remain active throughout their lives, in turn achieving a healthier lifestyle. Physical literacy will continue to be infused in our programs for all active program participants to benefit.
Program begins Thursday, October 6, running for 6 weeks at George Ashe Library and Community Centre. Those interested can register at pickering.ca/active. Follow us on Facebook @RecreationPickering or check our website at pickering.ca/adults55plus for more information on programs and activities happening in Pickering.
