The Town of Whitby is proud to support its two local Legions: Brooklin Legion Branch 152 and Whitby Legion Branch 112. Here are just a few of the ways you can pay tribute to our veterans and active service members this month:

1 – Visit the Town’s Wartime Heroes Canadian Literature Interactive Space

Learn about and remember Canadian wartime heroes. Now through the end of November, visit the outdoor Canadian Literature Interactive Space at Whitby Public Library to view display panels and scan the QR codes to borrow related books from the library.

2 – Attend a ceremony on November 11 at 11 a.m. There are three locations to choose from:

  • Whitby Cenotaph located at 109 Dundas Street East in Downtown Whitby, hosted by the Royal Canadian Legion Branch 112 (Whitby Legion)
  • Brooklin Cenotaph at the Brooklin Community Centre and Library, located at 8 Vipond Road, Whitby, hosted by the Royal Canadian Legion Branch 152 (Brooklin Legion)
  • Intrepid Park, 2008 Boundary Road, hosted by the Canadian Armed Forces

3 – Take a moment to learn about a hero

  • When walking through Downtown Whitby, Downtown Brooklin, or outside Town Hall, be sure to look up. You will find photos and stories of local veterans and active service members displayed on lampposts.
  • The banners designed by local graphic designer Emma Inkpen were developed through a partnership between the Town of Whitby, Brooklin Legion Branch 152, and Whitby Legion Branch 112.
