This February, Theatre on the Ridge in Port Perry recognizes Black History Month with two unique theatre events.

The Story of Samuel Stout Next Stage (February 10 and 11)

In the Story of Samuel Stout Next Stage, the journey toward a full production of this compelling new play by Uju Umenyi continues. Audiences will remember the powerful first public presentation last September during Ontario Culture Days. Theatre on the Ridge now brings Ms. Umenyi and musical director, Christopher Lucas, together for a second workshop to explore the role of music in the play and in the life of Samuel Stout, Port Perrys first Black resident. The weeklong workshop will culminate in two public staged readings onFebruary 10at 7:30 p.m., andFebruary 11at 2 p.m. Tickets are $25 each and available atTheatreOnTheRidge.ca.

The Adventures of the Soul Sistas (February 25)

Join author Newton Vanriel and actors Audra Gray (The Drowning Girls) and Amanda Jane Smith (Cottagers and Indians), for a very special reading of this delightful new bestselling book for children.
