Clarington is asking residents to share what they love about their local parks during the #HeartYourParkscampaign.

More than 1,000 residents participated in the campaign for Parks and Recreation month in June, sharing photos and stories, attending community events, colouring flags showcasing their love for local parks and recreation. The flags are now on display at recreation centres across the municipality.

Clarington council has been vocal about its oppositionto recent legislative changes that threaten parkland, including significant cuts to parkland dedication requirements under Bill 23 that challenge the municipalitys ability to add new parkland to new developments.

Now more than ever, its important that we send a clear message about the value of our parkland and our residents did just that with #HeartYourParksClarington, added Mayor Foster.

Residents can still participate in the #HeartYourParksClarington campaign for a chance to win prizes. For more information visit clarington.net.
